SFA Basketball Facility
May 2019 - July 2021
Stephen F. Austin State University hired Populous Architectural Design to design the expansion of the current William R. Johnson Coliseum on campus. The new facility will feature new practice courts, new locker rooms, new meeting rooms, and new coaches offices. The facility is expected to be complete and ready for the men’s and women’s basketball teams by August 2021.
Athletic Director Ryan Ivey said. “It will create an opportunity for us to expand opportunities to our athletes and increase our wellness program.”
M. Gensler has attended all of the preliminary meetings with Populous and the SFA Coaches, talked to the end users, collaborated with a furniture vendors and a rep from the manufacture company of National. Populous designed and chose majority of the furniture and finishes, with some guidance from the Design Center. M. Gensler was able to choose some of the fabric for pieces from National. The Design Center worked with National Rep Babbie Patin to come up with office layouts that would work with what Populous was envisioning.
M. Gensler and S. Williams entered in all of the furniture requisitions for the new facility, and double checked all of the account numbers and product item numbers to check that everything matched up for the purchase order.
